GWAYO Scholarship Golf Outing

Enjoy a game of golf and support urban youth at this fundraiser for Greater Wheeling Area Youth Outreach (G.W.A.Y.O.) The GWAYO Scholarship Golf Outing, taking place at Rob Roy Golf Course in Prospect Heights, is a fundraising event to support GWAYO’s programming. This year GWAYO will be responsible for assisting 31 of its graduates in paying for their college education after they receive their financial aid reward. Sixty percent of the proceeds from this event will go towards the fall semester of coursework for these students and forty percent will support GWAYO’s continuing work with young people in it’s after-school tutoring and mentoring “Dream Makers Program.” After nine years of running this program, 85% of GWAYO program graduates have either completed a post-secondary degree or still actively pursuing their degree. This is far greater than national statistics: only 10% of youth from a background of poverty will complete a college degree.
