NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK APRIL 15 - 21, 2007
National Volunteer Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the efforts of volunteers at the local, state and national levels. During National Volunteer Week organizations such as volunteer centers, nonprofit organizations, businesses, military units, hospitals, communities of faith, schools, and national, state and local government agencies host recognition events to honor volunteers for outstanding contributions to their communities over the past year. Also, each year thousands of volunteers participate in local community service projects during National Volunteer week.

Volunteers of all ages, including families and groups, are needed for a wide variety of challenging, worthwhile assignments. Assignments are available for ongoing as well as one-time projects, and help is needed for weekdays, evenings and weekends. Areas of service include, food pantries, hospitals, schools, delivering meals and visiting shut-ins, conservation groups, senior centers, libraries, daycare centers, homeless shelters, clerical positions, nursing homes, and much more. Training is provided, and no experience is necessary.
